CompFrame 2003 Workshop
February 24-26, 2003
The workshop has been a great success: There were 11 presentations
(see the "Talks" directory). In between and in
particular on February 26 there was ample time for discussion which
led eventually to a strategy of how to proceed to make the various
Computational Frameworks converge with respect to interoperability
and functionality. The follow decisions were made:
Audience:
This workshop is intended for developers and users of Computational
Frameworks/Problem Solving Environments for compute intensive High
Performance Computing applications.
Goal: Discuss the possibilities for coordination of the many
initiatives in this area in order to attain more general applicability
of trustworthy components at the least possible cost (in terms of manpower)
and the greatest possible performance and efficiency (in terms of machine
power).
Format: The workshop spans three days of which the first two will
be dedicated to presentations of the work of the various groups (see for a
useful survey, e.g.
Shujia Zhou et.al's survey).
Time and Place: The workshop is held at the University of Utrecht,
The Netherlands, 24-26th of February 2003. For more information on the
venue and the access to the CompFrame Workshop please check the
"Venue" and
"Access" buttons on this page.
Participation: In order to make this workshop fruitful the
participation for this workshop is limited: the upper
limit of attendees is 35. This should enable sensible
discussions between the participants. It is also understood that the
various parties that want to attend are able and willing to present
some of their wiews and work in this field.
The last day will be dedicated to discussions about strategies for cooperation,
coordination of efforts, inventory of open problems, etc.
On the other hand there is no workshop fee.
